As the wind industry continues to grow in the U.S., more wind turbine suppliers are creating jobs here. There are positive economic benefits to the region, and manufacturers also benefit through simplified construction logistics. This report describes the Ohio companies engaged in the wind industry along with their employment data and recommendations for further growth in the state’s wind industry.

Job Jolt
The Regional Economics Applications Laboratory (REAL) of the University of Illinois evaluated the economic impacts of implementing the Clean Energy Development Plan. For Ohio, the study projects:
- New Jobs: 25,000 net new jobs by 2010 and 39,000 by 2020, as a result of investments in energy efficiency and renewable clean energy projects.
- Economic Growth: $2.6 billion of increased economic output by 2010 and $4.5 billion by 2020.
- Energy Cost Savings: $1.5 billion in annual net electricity cost savings by 2020 from energy efficiency. These savings will be re-spent by businesses and residential consumers to bolster Ohio’s economy.
